Adirondack sun loungers with three positions
The Adirondack sun loungers from Comfy Chair are the extended version of our adjustable chairs. Just like the chairs, the design of the sun lounger is ergonomic. This means the lounger follows the natural curves of your back, allowing you to lie even more comfortably.
Comfy Chair sun loungers can be adjusted to three different positions. This makes it easy to alternate sunbathing with reading a book or doing a puzzle. Adjusting the positions is simple: the backrest features a support bar at the rear that can be placed into various notches.
What makes these loungers “Adirondack”?
In both appearance and design, the sun loungers from Comfy Chair are inspired by the Original Adirondack Chairs. Typical features of Adirondack furniture include the slatted construction and the gently rounded backrest.
Compared to the Original Comfy Chair, the Adirondack sun lounger has slightly narrower armrests. This provides extra freedom of movement, which is particularly convenient when turning or changing position while lying down.
Like our chairs, the sun loungers are also suitable for people with longer legs—something that is not always the case with other Adirondack sun loungers. Thanks to the ergonomic shape, you can lie comfortably for extended periods without experiencing pressure points. Special Comfy Chair cushions are also available, designed specifically for this model.
Different types of Adirondack sun loungers
Comfy Chair sun loungers are available in two materials: wood and plastic.
The wooden sun loungers are made from red cedar, a lightweight yet strong type of wood. Red cedar is an excellent material for garden furniture, as sun loungers made from it are easy to move while still offering a high load capacity. In addition, red cedar stays cool in the sun (perfect for summer!), can remain outdoors all year round and requires very little maintenance. Thanks to the natural essential oils in the wood, red cedar is also resistant to insects and rot.
The plastic sun loungers are identical in shape to the wooden versions but are made from durable plastic. This material is colourfast, robust and extremely easy to maintain. The plastic sun loungers are available in white, grey and black.
Adirondack sun loungers are often combined with other Adirondack garden furniture, allowing you to create a complete Adirondack garden set. Think of a footstool, a side table or specially designed garden cushions for Adirondack chairs.
Adirondack sun lounger or chair with footstool?
The Adirondack sun lounger from Comfy Chair is a favourite among sun lovers. However, some customers opt for an alternative: an Adirondack chair combined with a footstool. Which option suits your needs best? Here is a brief comparison:
The sun lounger
The Adirondack sun lounger is specifically designed for lying down. With its three adjustable positions, it can easily be adapted to your preferred use. If you enjoy stretching out fully while sunbathing, the sun lounger is the most comfortable choice.
Chair + footstool
You can also choose an adjustable Adirondack chair with a matching footstool. The adjustable Comfy Chairs offer two positions: an upright seating position and a more reclined “relax” position. By adding a footstool, you can comfortably stretch your legs. Lying completely flat is not possible in this setup—for that, the sun lounger is the better option. However, the chair-and-footstool combination does offer greater flexibility.
Cushions for Adirondack sun loungers
At Comfy Chair, we often say that cushions are not strictly necessary. Our Adirondack sun loungers are already very comfortable without them. That said, many customers choose to add a cushion to get the most out of their lounger—because, let’s be honest, a cushioned sun lounger is exceptionally comfortable.
